It is the duty of the guru and the disciple to be loyal to each other, not only in one life, but for many lives if these are necessary to reach God. Those who are one hundred percent loyal to a guru can be sure of ultimate liberation and ascension. One may have many teachers, but only one guru, who remains as one’s guru even in many different lives, until the disciple reaches the final goal of emancipation in God. You must remember this once that relationship is formed.

“Swami Sriyukteswar Giri was born in Serampore, on the bank of India’s holy Ganges River, in the district of Hooghly in Bengal in 1855, on the last  Friday of the first month of the Bengali Calendar, Baisakh, which fell on May 10 in that particular year.”*
“It is the Spirit of God that actively sustains every form and force in the universe; yet He is transcendental and aloof in the blissful uncreated void beyond the worlds of vibratory phenomena. Those who attain Self-realization on earth live in a similar twofold existence. Conscientiously performing their work in the world, they are yet immersed in an inward beatitude.”**
“The Lord has created all men from the illimitable joy of His being. Though they are painfully cramped by the body, God nevertheless expects that men made in His image shall ultimately rise above all sense identifications and reunite with Him.”**

“In every step of my life I bow God”

“In every step of my life I bow God, in every breath I watch God”, Paramahamsa Hariharananda. These are the words of the spiritual master. By his grace I have been blessed to practice Kriya Yoga and everything I have experienced I have learned from him.

In every action, thought, word and deed, you should watch the invisible indwelling self, the formless power of God. The blessings of God and Gurus are constantly maintaining us through the breath. There is never a moment when the marvelous power of God is not activating you. Without this there is no life in the human form. So you should calmly fix your attention in the fontanel, slowly watching the inhalation and exhalation with deepest love, divine love. Within a moment’s time you can perceive the formless, all-prevading power of God. Watch very deeply, perceive the divine light, listen to the divine sound and watch the formless vibration. In every moment of your life, if you calmly watch, you will gradually become more and more aware of the divine power maintaining you. This power will give more peace, bliss, joy, calmness, good health, happiness and love. The more you stay anchored in the divine , the more beautiful your life will be.

With this awareness we practice Kri and Ya, performing action and watching the formless, in every step of our life. This is the path tread by the realized, the path of liberation. God in human being, human being in God. This is “Hariharananda”, merged in the formless with love and joyfully perceiving the light of Samadhi. You all should change your life. The more you try, the more you will perceive, just now, in every breath. No one knows when one will leave one’s body, so meditate deeply and be realized.

“Now is the time to earn God.” ” Opportunity should not be neglected.” Paramahamsa Hariharananda

Samadhi in Kriya Yoga

(An article dictated by Paramahamsa Hariharananda to Rajarshi Raghabananda)

Source: The Essence of Kriya Yoga, by Rajarshi Raghabananda, May 2008 First edition.

Kriya Yoga technique is the essence of karma yoga, rajas yoga and bhakti yoga methods propounded by Lord Shri Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita. Kriya Yoga is applied part of the yogic scriptures, that is why we call it the scientific method of cultivating God-realization.

According to Lord Shri Krishna, he taught this immortal yoga to Vivashvan, (Sun God), who conveyed it to Manu, his son, and Manu imparted it to his own son, Ikshwaku. Thus handed down from father to son, this yoga came to the knowledge of the rajarshis, (royal sages). But, through a long lapse of time, it more or less disappeared. Subsequently, the Lord taught this sacred yoga to Arjuna and the other Pandavas. This yoga was fundamentally meant for householders for their Self-realization.

Famous sages like Vyasa, Vashistha, Janaka, Valmiki and Parashara practiced this Kriya Yoga in the midst of their family life and reached the divine goal. This yoga occupied an important place in the Bhagavad Gita and in the earlier philosophical yoga taught by Lord Krishna yet it became neglected again and almost disappeared due to chaotic conditions in the social life of India.

A new era was ushered in during the mid-19th century when the immortal Babaji Maharaj gave a scientific orientation to this yoga. Through his householder disciple, Lahiri Mahashaya, he offered this Kriya Yoga for the spiritual betterment of the human race. His disciple Swami Shriyukteshwar transmitted the Kriya Yoga teachings to his student Paramahamsa Yogananda, who was destined to spread the teachings widely in the West after he moved to California in the late 1920’s. Over the next 30 years Yoganandaji, initiated over one hundred thousand westerners in the first kriya technique. This powerful spiritual transmission laid the foundation in America for the popularity of the yoga movement, which is still blossoming today. With the goal of deepening this process of soul cultivation, here is a brief description of all six kriyas as they were taught by Babaji to Lahiri Mahashaya. It is impossible to practice then without the personal instruction from another evolved soul or a qualified Kriya Yoga master. But the knowledge of this path may act as a beacon that guides you in your spiritual journey, and will assist you in understanding the practical yoga of God-realization taught in the Bhagavad Gita.
